Collection and Donations to Military Working Dogs and Handlers
Simsbury Police Department Animal Control Officer Mark Rudewicz launched the second annual collection and donation for military working dogs and their handlers who spent the holiday season abroad. ACO Rudewicz collected over 50 care packages that were sent to military K9 handlers and their partners in Iraq and Afghanistan. The packages included such items as hygiene products, food, dog toys, bedding and safety items. The donations came from Police Department and Town employees, residents, local businesses and employees of Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. He received many expressions of gratitude from phone calls, e-mails to cards, letters and photos.
