FINAL NOTICE
Unpaid Taxes for Motor Vehicle & Personal Property and Sewer Use Fees sent to State Marshall and Collection Agency
Colleen O’Connor, Collector of Taxes, announced today that the Town of Simsbury would soon be forwarding delinquent motor vehicle tax bills to an outside collection agency as part of an enhanced collection and enforcement program. This initiative is a result of a contract with American National Recovery Group, Inc. to pursue the collection of delinquent accounts. Individuals with unpaid motor vehicles taxes are encouraged to contact the Town of Simsbury Tax Office at (860) 658-3238 to pay their outstanding debt and avoid a 15 percent collection agency fee. The additional fees will be added to motor vehicle tax bills as of November 16, 2009.
Delinquent motor vehicle taxes represent a sizeable amount of uncollected revenue. At this time we must be especially diligent in our responsibility to collect money that is, in effect, owed the citizens of Simsbury.
Also this month all outstanding Personal Property and Sewer Use bills were given to the State Marshall for collection on November 9, 2009. Notices were sent out last month explaining that if the accounts were not paid in full they would be sent to the State Marshall in November.
