Sewer Use Fee for the year July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 will be $320.00
The Simsbury Water Pollution Control took action after a public hearing and voted to increase the equivalent dwelling unit (EDU) fee for users of the Simsbury sanitary sewer system by $10.00 to $320.00 per EDU per year, effective July 1, 2008.
The Sewer Use bills will be mailed out the last week of June and are due July 1, 2008 with the last day to pay without a penalty as August 1, 2008.

What the Mill Rate means:
For every $1,000 of assessment you pay $38.20. Example: If your motor vehicle is assessed at $1,500 your taxes would be $57.30.
Tax Reminder
Taxes due January 1, 2008.
The last day to pay taxes without a penalty is February 1, 2008. (Postmarks of February 1, 2008 will be accepted.)
Taxes due at this time are for the second installment on real estate and personal property on any business. Those bills were mailed out last June.
Supplemental motor vehicle taxes will be mailed out the last week of December 2007 and are due January 1, 2008 with the last day without a penalty by February 1, 2008.
Supplemental motor vehicle bills are for cars that were newly registered after October 1, 2006 but before August 2, 2007. By state law, failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt you from paying taxes.

Tax payments can be made in person at the Tax Office. Bring the entire bill with you.

Back Tax Notation on Bill
If the notation “Back Taxes” appears on your bill, call the tax office for updated interest charges on what you already owe. Back taxes and interest must be paid in full before payment on current bills can be accepted. If you have back taxes they must be paid with cash, bank check or money order.
Penalty for Returned Checks
If your check is returned unpaid by the bank, an additional fee of $25.00 will be added to your balance due. In addition, you may be charged a penalty by your bank.
Penalty for Late Payment
If payment is not made within one month of the due date, the installment will become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month from the due date. As of Aug. 2, 2007 and Feb. 2, 2008, a total of 3% interest is due on the taxes unpaid from the original due date of either July 1, 2007 or January 1, 2008.
AS THE OWNER OF TAXABLE PROPERTY, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO SEE THAT TAXES ARE PAID WHEN DUE.

Payment By Mail
Payments post-marked as of August 1, 2007 by the USPS are NOT DELINQUENT for the first installment. Payments post-marked as of Feb 1, 2008 by the USPS are NOT DELINQUENT for the second installment.
If a receipt is desired, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope and the entire bill with your payment. Checks should be made out to the Tax Collector- Simsbury.
