Registration Deadlines
for Anticipated
Democratic and Republican State Primaries
August 10, 2010
 
 New Voters: Application must be postmarked by August 5, 2010 or submitted in person by noon on August 9, 2010.
 
Unaffiliated voters joining a party: Application must be received by August 5.
 
Party Transfer: Individuals currently enrolled with a political party who wish to transfer to another party must complete the transfer by May 10, 2010. (§ 9-59)

Notice of Special Voter Registration Session:
 
The Registrars of Voters will hold a special registration session on Tuesday, July 27 from 7-9 p.m. at the office of the Registrars of Voters, Simsbury Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury.
 
Please bring a current valid photo identification that shows your current address, or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address.
 
To be eligible to vote in the Democratic or Republican Primary on August 10, a voter must be enrolled with a party.  New or Unaffiliated voters who wish to vote on August 10 must meet the posted registration deadlines.
The deadline to switch from one party to another to vote in the Primary was May 5.
 
 
Absentee ballot applications are available through the Town Clerk’s office. Applications may be requested in person, or by calling 860-658-3243. Please allow sufficient mailing time.

Registrars
This department is run by two part-time Registrars who are elected for a four year term.  The Registrars administer elections, primaries, referendums, and town meetings for the Town of Simsbury; conduct an annual canvass of Simsbury voters; and maintain the Town’s voter rolls according to State statutes.


Registration Requirements
Registering to vote is easy.  Mail-in applications are available at the Registrars of Voter's office.  Call 658-3267 or 658-3269 and one will be sent to you.  Or if you like, select the link at the top of this page to get on-line forms from the State of Connecticut.

You may also register to vote in person at the Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow Street on Mondays from 8:30 a.m.. – 7:00 p.m.; or Tuesday through Friday from 8:30a.m. - 4:30 p.m. either at the office of the Registrars or at the Town Clerk's office. When your application has been approved, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance, which will indicate your polling place.

Applications are also enclosed with driver's license and vehicle registration renewals.

To register to vote in Connecticut, you MUST be a United States citizen; be a resident of a Connecticut town; be at least 17 years old (must turn 18 before election day); and have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony.
