Simsbury Farms Complex Committee
Minutes February 7, 2008
Attending:
SFCC: Gerry Post, Dave Dell, Jeff Seltzer, Dennis Fallon, Ron Patterson, Tom West
Minutes: The minutes of the January 10th meeting were accepted
Six Year Capital: The first selectman's office continues to aggressively support the proposed access road and maintenance facility projects. Capital spending will be curtailed in FY 08-09 however there may be some "grant money" from the State which could be allocated for the access road in 2008.
Access Road: As stated above, the access road may be funded using "grant money" from the State. This potential source of funding would probable be available in the summer of 2008. Since the access road directly impacts the parks maintenance facility, capital funding to replace the existing structure will remain a high priority in FY 09-10.
Maintenance Facility: The "Caldwell" bldg. visited last month provides a modular design concept with each module 25x50 (1250 sq ft.). Initial estimate for the proposed centralized facility is 10,000 sq. ft. (8 modules). This modular concept is relatively low cost and offers flexibility relative to the construction schedule for each module.
A progress report meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday with Orlando and Mike Wallace to further define the requirements of the facility.
Swimming Pool fees - 2008 season: CP&R have recommended no fee increases for the 2008 swim season.
Golf cart fees 2009: Cart fees in for the 2008 season were not increased but it is recommended that a $1 increase be proposed for the 2009 season. Senior golf cart fee is not included in this recommended increase.
GPS Feedback: David Dell conversation with other golf professionals (Fla. visit) confirmed our earlier decision to "wait and see": relative to this fast evolving technology
Fireplace: Gerry Post has determined that the fireplace at the ice rink could be operational providing:
" The chimney passes inspection
" A glass enclosure is installed
Town Planning: Gerry Post, also a member of the planning committee, will initiate a positive communication link between Planning and the SFCC.
