Simsbury Farms Complex Committee
Minutes April 10 meeting
Present:
SFCC: Dennis Fallon, Maribeth Mortillaro, David Dell, Marc Lubetkin, Antonio Braz, Tom West
CP&RC: Harry Ryan
Staff: Gerry Toner
Welcome and congratulations to the two new members of the SFCC i.e. Antonio Braz and Marc Lubetkin.
Minutes: a quorum was present however the minutes of the February. and March meetings were not presented for approval.
Revenue Fund: Rising energy cost coupled with credit card fees and increasing employee benefit costs continue to drive revenue fund expenses upward. To offset this, reductions in other expenses continue to be pursued and selective fee increases implemented. It was noted that the creation of the special revenue fund continues to be a viable concept however escalating expenses may require financial assistance from the General Fund.
Maintenance Facility: The subcommittee will provide a progress report at the May meeting. This report will include final recommendations relative to floor space requirements, including a CAD layout of the proposed facility.
At this April meeting, a brief overview of the work accomplished was summarized for the two new members of the Committee. As discussed, a special tour of the Complex will be arranged for the new members.
Marketing Program: A three page marketing plan, focused on the golf course, was presented by Gerry Toner. A number of promotional ideas were outlined in this marketing plan including increased emphasis on e-mail communications. Additional advertising in the local valley publications will also be considered to attract "valley golfers" to the Farms.
Restaurant: A brief summary of a meeting, held on 4/8/08, with Attilio, was presented for review. As a result of this meeting, a RFP for the Main Bldg. /Apple Barn study will be expanded to include the Restaurant. This restaurant study will consider modifications to the existing structure to expand seating and storage. Based on this study, estimated costs will be developed and funding options evaluated, including possible privatization.
