The meeting opened at 5:30 pm
Public audience: John Lucker, Kirsten Griebel, T.J. Donohue spoke and submitted comments and/or information.

The subcommittee began the discussion of the PAD process to date. This general process was discussed by Hiram Peck and Attorney Decrescenzo.

The members then discussed type of regulation being proposed. Julie Meyer asked about the rezoning process and how that would occur. Emil Dahlquist questioned the basis of the PAD and stated that he felt a form based code would be preferable.

Discussion then ensued about the specific charge to this subcommittee as a subcommittee of the Zoning Commission. The question of whether the subcommittee was charged with reviewing and making recommendations on the PAD or whether it was to redraft the entire regulation as a form based type regulation was discussed.

The subcommittee then briefly discussed coverage and parking standards in the PAD. It was stated that the existing standards of the underlying zone would remain in effect unless changed by the Zoning Commission decision on a given PAD application. There was general agreement that the amount of parking required in the current regulations was more than adequate.

Attorney DeCrescenzo handed out binders with examples of mixed use regulations from other towns.

The subcommittee agreed to meet on May 21 at 6 pm in the Main Meeting Room of Town Hall. The meeting was adjourned at 6:48 pm.
