WELCOME from Tom Frank, Chairman of the
Simsbury Economic Development Commission
 The Simsbury Economic Development Commission’s (EDC) approach in its mission to foster economic growth is to support existing businesses in Simsbury and to attract and recruit new businesses to the town. The Commission also strives to continuously improve its economic development policies to ensure a streamlined process. As the Commission works with the First Selectman to foster growth it understands the necessity to provide the
optimum balance to meet the needs of businesses and developers while maintaining the Towns unique character.
We are proud of our work with Simsbury Main Street Partnership, the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. We support their many initiatives and work with them to maximize opportunities to increase the pedestrian traffic within the Town beneficial to the businesses. We also work closely with the Planning Commission and Zoning Commission to identify specific areas appropriate for new businesses. The Commission actively attends conferences and seminars to promote the Town and available developments within the Town. The EDC is currently planning an informational workshop for the major property/landowners in town and the various Boards and Commission Members to learn more about what businesses find attractive about Simsbury and how we can better position our available lands for the appropriate economic growth.
 We appreciate tools such as tax abatement and other financial incentives that allow us to produce creative economic development proposals. To ensure the most efficient and effective process the EDC works with the Director of Community Planning and Development and additional town staff as we recognize the expectation of a certain and timely process. As we continue to respond to meet the ever changing needs of the development community,
look for enhancements to our website to gain access to guidelines for the land use process, the Towns Geographic Information System (GIS), and many more valuable tools.
Home to the world renown International Skating Center of CT and the Performing Art Center at Simsbury Meadows, summer home of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra; Simsbury is a vibrant community with a successful mix of retail, office, service and manufacturing.
