Chariots of Hope volunteers refurbish old wheelchairs (and gratefully accept ones in perfects shape!). The organization was founded in 1998 by Michele Carney, the administrator of a Windsor Locks nursing home.
Annually - usually in May, many Connecticut State Police barracks participate in a wheelchair collection for this organization. In 2000, over 200 chairs were collected during their drive.

Teddy collects household items for distribution to the needy through his Hartford church. Call Teddy to see if there is a current need for a wheelchair.
In 2000, Teddy received a Town of Simsbury Recycling Award.
