Press Release
September 21, 2009
The Town of Avon has recently taken delivery of equipment to be shared by the Farmington Valley Towns for the maintenance of the approximately 25 miles of Farmington Valley/River Greenways. The parties to the agreement include Simsbury, Avon, Canton, East Granby, Farmington, Granby, Burlington and Suffield. The equipment purchased consists of a Bob Cat 5600 work machine, including an extended warranty, and attachments. The cost of the equipment purchased totals approximately $93,000. The equipment was purchased with funds through the 2008 Regional Performance Incentive Grant Program as administered by the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management. The application was filed in late 2007.
First Selectman Glassman stated that “A lot of hard work went into crafting the agreement to share this equipment. It will certainly serve as the basis for further cooperation in the future.”
The Towns will jointly share this equipment on a rotating basis. The communities will share equally in the cost of the upkeep and maintenance of the equipment.
