The Aquarion Water Company has recently announced a grant award in the amount of $15,000 to the Town of Simsbury. The grant will be used to fund several projects as proposed by the Simsbury Clean Energy Committee. These programs include a Green Business Certification Program, Simsbury School District Energy Education Kits and the Clean Energy Options Program.
Charles Firlotte, Aquarion Water Company President and CEO stated, “We are pleased to partner with the Town of Simsbury in promoting environmental, educational and energy-saving initiatives. It is strong, forward looking programs such as these that will help prepare us to plan for future generations.” Deputy First Selectman, John Hampton stated that “The Town of Simsbury and its Clean Energy Committee are thrilled that the Aquarion Water Company has provided funding for these important projects.”
The Town of Simsbury will continue its “Gifford’s Green Conversations,” named in honor of Simsbury’s own Gifford Pinchot (1st Chief of the U.S. Forest Service) on October 22, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Eno Memorial Hall. The conversation will be hosted by Aquarion Water Company and the topic is Water Conservation. The program is free and all are encouraged to attend.
