Employee Benefits

The Town of Simsbury has made the decision to consolidate insurance carriers. Effective July 1, 2014 CIGNA will administer all medical and dental benefits for active employees and early retirees.

The Town will continue to offer an HMO (currently administered by ConnectiCare) and PPO plans.

In addition, Non-affiliated, CILU Dispatchers and AFSCME Public Works union employees will have the opportunity to enroll in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The HDHP is not a mandatory benefit election but rather an additional benefit option. There is no impact to the current dental plan.

Please refer to the attached Plan Comparison Chart below for details.

Impact to 2014-2015 rates

There is no impact to the current HMO rates. The PPO rates will be reduced by 5%. There is no impact to the current dental plan rates. Please note that your contribution rate will be dictated by the union contract.
