Legal notices are on the Simsbury website and now you can sign up to receive them!

Becoming aware of municipal legal notices can be very time sensitive for affected parties. The Town of Simsbury recently launched a service to address this need. The new feature allows anyone the ability to sign up to automatically receive updates when legal notices are posted to the town website. This is far more effective -- and efficient -- than attempting to track the information in local papers.

The Town of Simsbury is the first client of Virtual Towns & Schools, a Massachusetts-based company that provides online services and applications to the municipal market, to offer the ability to sign up to receive legal notices by email.

The notices are posted on the site by department, as well as one list that shows all legal notices. You can access all legal notices from the footer (bottom) of the home page. Click on “Legal Notices” in the first column on the left.

The new service allows you to:

  • Register only for those boards and commissions you are interested in.
  • Receive immediate email notification when a legal notice is posted to the Simsbury website.
  • View a historical archive on the website of past legal notices since the program began.

You can sign up to receive notices from:

  • Board of Selectmen
  • Tax Office
  • Conservation
  • Town Clerk
  • First Selectman
  • Zoning Board of Appeals
  • Historic District
  • Zoning Commission
  • Planning Commission
