Cannabis Information

Through the action of the state legislature, the cultivation, sale, transport, and distribution of adult use cannabis is permitted in Connecticut as of July, 1, 2021. For additional information, including the text of the legislation, and relevant policies and procedures, click here.

The Board of Selectmen held a public hearing on November 28, 2022 to receive public comment regarding whether the Town of Simsbury should permit or prohibit the retail sale of cannabis within its town borders. The Board also reviewed and discussed this matter at their meetings on July 11, 2022, September 12, 2022, and October 12, 2022

In addition, at their meeting on September 28, 2022 the Board of Selectmen created a work group to review the feasibility of establishing an ordinance to prohibit the use of tobacco, vaping, and cannabis products on public property. As always, general comments may be sent to the full Board of Selectmen here.  Individuals may also address the Board of Selectmen at their regular meetings either live or through Zoom; meetings are typically scheduled on the second and fourth Mondays of the month beginning at 6:00pm. The Town of Simsbury Zoning Commission adopted a year-long moratorium on this matter effective November 8, 2021 in order to establish a regulatory land use approach.
