HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION

MARCH 1, 2018

MINUTES FROM REGULAR MEETING

SUBJECT TO VOTE OF APPROVAL

 

 

I.             CALL TO ORDER

 

The Regular Meeting of the Historic District Commission was called to order at 7:32 P.M. in the Main Meeting Room of the Simsbury Town Offices, 933 Hopmeadow Street.  Also in attendance were Robin Newton, Code Compliance Officer; and Karen Haberlin, Commission Clerk.

 

 

II.            ROLL CALL

 

Commission members present were Peter Adamowicz, Marguerite Carnell, Heather Goetz, Jonathan Laschever and Mark Nyquist.

               

                1.            Appointment of Alternates

There was no appointment of alternates.

 

 

III.           APPLICATIONS

 

The application of Charles Goetz was postponed until the April 5 meeting.          

 

 

IV.          GENERAL COMMISSION BUSINESS

 

                1. Update handbook

Ms. Newton noted there is funding left over from the Plan of Conservation and Development which could be used to hire a historic preservation consultant to update the handbook.  She referenced three sample handbooks Michael Glidden chose as examples and distributed to commission members for review.  She noted the three handbooks were meant to serve as a guide and a starting point.  It was decided the three handbooks would be resent electronically to commission members to study before the next meeting.  General discussion followed about the update, including, new technology, solar panels and the philosophy of the commission.

 

 

V.            APPROVAL OF MINUTES

 

Ms. Carnell moved to approve the Minutes from the February 1, 2018 Regular Meeting as written.  Mr. Laschever seconded the motion.  All were in favor and the motion passed.

 

 

 

VI.          ADJOURNMENT

 

Ms. Carnell thanked Mr. Laschever for his years of service and contributions to the commission.

 

Ms. Carnell moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 P.M.  Mr. Laschever seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
