Absentee Ballot Applications Mailed by Secretary of the State's Office

For the August 2020 Presidential Preference Primary all voters can vote by absentee due to the COVID-19 virus, pursuant to the Governor's Executive Order No. 7QQ.

Furthermore, all eligible voters will be receiving an Absentee Ballot Application mailed from the Secretary of the State's Office for the upcoming Presidential Preference Primaries being held on August 11, 2020 within the coming days, if you have not already received one. This application was not mailed by the Town Clerk's Office. PLEASE NOTE: if you have already submitted an application earlier in the year, please DO NOT submit this application as well. Your application has already been processed and you will be receiving an absentee ballot in the mail after July 21st. Simply disregard the application mailed by the Secretary of the State's Office. This also applies to voters with the Permanent Absentee Ballot Status. If you are registered voter with this status, please DO NOT submit the application that you receive in the mail. You will automatically be receiving a ballot for the Primary if you are eligible and there is no need to submit this application.

If you will be voting Absentee, please complete and return the application to the Town Clerk's Office using the envelope provided AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ; this will provide the Town Clerk's Office with the most time possible to process the applications we receive leading up to July 21st, 2020, which is the first day that Absentee Ballots will be available for the August 11th, 2020 Presidential Preference Primaries.

If you have already submitted an application for an Absentee Ballot earlier in the year and the mailing address you filled in on the application will not be your mailing address as of July 21st, please email the Town Clerk at ebutler@simsbury-ct.gov as soon as possible to update your mailing address. We want to make sure your ballot gets to you.

Simsbury Town Hall will remain CLOSED to the Public until at least August 3rd, 2020 therefore you will need to mail in your application or drop it in the lock-box outside of the Town Hall entrance. As of right now, the Town has their own lock-box in which you can utilize. However, the Secretary of the State's Office will be providing each municipality with a lock-box to be used only for Absentee Ballot Applications and/or Ballots. We should be receiving this in the near future.

The Town Clerk's Office will be processing all applications for Absentee Ballots, but the ballots themselves will be mailed directly to applicants from a mail house contracted with the Secretary of the State's Office. You will then return your ballot to our office via the mail or lock-box.

If the application you receive contains errors with your voter information, please contact the Registrars' Office. The Town Clerk's Office does not maintain the voter list, therefore we can not make changes and/or corrections to your voter information. Please DO NOT call the Town Clerk's office with questions/concerns regarding your voter information. You will need to talk with the Registrars directly. If you have questions regarding the Absentee Balloting process, please contact the Town Clerk at ebutler@simsbury-ct.gov. At this time, email would be the preferred form of communication. Thank you for your consideration during this time.
