Absentee Ballot Update as of August 5th for August 11th Primary

All applications received (for those eligible to vote in the 8.11.20 Primaries) by the Simsbury Town Clerk's Office through 8.5.20 have been processed and ballots have been mailed. Please note that Town Clerks were informed Monday 8.3.20 that applications entered into the State of CT's Voter Registration System last week 7.27-7.30 did not get mailed out by the mail house contracted with the Secretary of the State's Office as they were supposed to. Our office then had to not only process applications and mail out ballots as we received them this week, but we also had to process and mail out over 200 that were neglected to be mailed by the mail house last week. We have been working dilligently in the Town Clerk's Office to make sure you get your ballots. We are committed to this and want you, the voters of Simsbury, to know this. We take pride in all the work we do in our office, and this is the first time that the duty of mailing the Absentee Ballots was not in our hands. We have always worked hard and carefully to get our ballots out within the 24 hour timeframe that we are to abide by, and it is very upsetting to us that the mailing of ballots has been delayed. Going forward, up until August 10th, ballots will now be mailed/issued directly from our office. We ask that you please utilize the lock box to return your voted ballot to us. With only six (6) days left until the Primary, we do not want to risk any delays from returning ballots through the mail. If you have any concerns and or questions regarding the delay in the mailing (lack of mailing) from the mail house, please contact the Secretary of the State's Office directly. This was unfortunately out of our control. We thank you for your patience and hope that everyone is staying safe and well!
