The Simsbury Board of Selectmen is seeking residents to participate in three 90-minute focus groups as part of the new Town Manager selection process. The focus groups will be facilitated by Municipal Resources Inc. (MRI), a local government services consulting firm which has been contracted by the Board of Selectmen to assist with the recruitment and selection process for the new Town Manager. The focus groups are designed to obtain input from residents in an effort to better understand community needs and the likely challenges and issues the new Town Manager will face in the next few years.
The Board will also hold a Public Hearing at 6:00 pm on the 25th to make sure that members of the public, including those who did not participate in one of the focus groups, have the opportunity to provide input into the Town Manager selection process.
The focus groups will be held at the Simsbury Public Library in the small program room on September 25th at the following times:
- 7:30 am to 9:00 am
- 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm
- 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Approximately 10 -15 resident volunteers will be selected to participate in each 90-minute session. If you are interested in participating in a focus group, please submit your name, your requested time slot (pick one only), your contact information and a one paragraph profile touching upon work & life experience, civic and social service activities, current & past community involvement to JoAnn Martin at email@example.com. Please provide this information no later than September 15, 2017. The Executive Search Committee will make the final selection of focus group participants based upon the number of volunteers and the desire to achieve a balanced and representative cross-section of the community; however, all applications will be acknowledged and additional information regarding the process provided to those who are selected to participate.
