COVID-19 Update: May 8, 2020

Please visit the following link for an update on COVID-19 response and readiness from the Town Manager, First Selectman, Chief of Police, Fire Chief, and Community Social Worker: https://simsburytv.org/v/FlvNS96ny88.

There is a limited opening of the Simsbury Bulky Waste and Recycling Center on Wolcott Road this week. On May 6-8, the facility will be open 8:00am to 3:00pm for vehicles that are already permitted for recycling. No operations that require money handling will be taking place. All facility users must wear a face covering at all times and maintain 6-foot social distancing. Only one vehicle at a time will be permitted at each drop off location. Please plan accordingly, as there may be lengthy wait times. Provided all goes well with this trial run, the facility will reopen Saturday, May 9, for normal operations from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

Tennis courts located at Town parks and school facilities will reopen on a limited basis starting the afternoon of May 8.  Courts will be opened for recreational play with the following restrictions:

  • Only individuals from the same household are permitted to play together
  • Use of the courts is not permitted if:
    • You are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including: mild to severe respiratory illness with fever; cough and difficulty breathing; or other symptoms identified by the CDC
    • You have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
    • You are a vulnerable individual, as defined by the United States Tennis Association COVID-19 guidelines
