Simsbury COVID Data - Week Ending October 2, 2021

Keep up the good work Simsbury! The data for the week ending October 2nd is very good news, and reflects the lowest number of positive weekly cases in Simsbury since the week ending July 31st.  The municipal alert system is based on data over a 2-week period, thus we retained “orange” status for the week ending October 2nd (the prior week’s cases were 30 compared to 12 the most recent week). The 10-towns comprising FVHD are still in “Substantial” status with 50.1 cases but are very close to “Moderate” status which is defined as 10 - 49.99 cases.

Both our local data, and FVHD data is trending well towards the established metrics for rescission of the mask order. FVHD supported the region being at “moderate” and Simsbury being at “yellow” for 2 incubation periods, or 4 weeks prior to rescission of the mask order.

FVHD has shared a CDC article on the effectiveness of the use of cloth masks to slow the spread of the virus: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/masking-science-sars-cov2.html
