Simsbury COVID Data - Week Ending October 9, 2021

There is good news to share.  Data released for the 2-week period ending October 9th indicates a rate of 8.2 cases per 100,000 residents, reaching yellow status. It is the first time we have reached yellow status for a 2-week period since the week ending August 7th.  Our positivity rate reached 2%, also the lowest since August 7th.  We are encouraged by this 2-week trend and to have one full incubation period (2 weeks) of positive trend behind us.

We are monitoring the data closely, and this week’s data release from the state is expected late Thursday for the period ending October 14th. We are preparing to lift the mask order when we get close to or have met the metrics for rescission. Both our local data and FVHD data is trending well towards the established metrics for rescission of the mask order.

If we are in a position to lift the mask order after the release of data this Thursday, an announcement will clearly be available on our Town’s website, www.simsbury-ct.gov. Throughout the pandemic we have also shared information on the Town’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as through our news and announcements email subscription service: https://www.simsbury-ct.gov/subscriber
