Simsbury’s 2020-2021 Budget Has Been Approved!

Simsbury’s 2020-2021 Budget has been approved! The final 2020/2021 budget can be found by clicking Here. The upcoming year’s budget was approved by the Board of Finance in lieu of a referendum this year following the guidance outlined in Governor Lamont’s Executive Order No. 7I issued on March 21, 2020.

The Board of Finance set a FY 20/21 mill rate of 37.09 mills and the Fire District mill rate was set at 1.19 mills, making the combined mill rate for the Town of Simsbury 38.28 mills. This is a mill rate decrease of 0.24 mills, resulting in approximately $50 in savings for the median valued home.

At their May 19, 2020 meeting the Board of Finance approved the following motions:

  1. Shall the appropriation recommended and approved by the Board of Finance for the purposes of paying the expenses of the Board of Selectmen annual budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, be approved and implemented in the amount of $24,104,638?
  2. Shall the appropriation recommended and approved by the Board of Finance for the purposes of paying the expenses of the Board of Education annual budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, be approved and implemented in the amount of $72,309,061?
  3. Shall the appropriation recommended and approved by the Board of Finance for the purposes of paying the expenses of the Sewer Use Fund (Sewer Treatment Plant), Residential Rental Properties, Simsbury Farms/Special Programs, Non-Public Schools, Debt Retirement/Capital and Capital Non-Recurring annual budgets for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, be approved and implemented in the amount of $12,429,922?

The Board of Finance also approved the following motion:

  1. Move effective May 19, 2020 to set the mill rate for the Fiscal Year 2020/2021 at 37.09 mills.
