Town Hall & Library to Extend Hours for In-Person Visitors

Starting the week of April 5, 2021, Town Hall and the Simsbury Public Library will have expanded hours for walk-in visitors.

Town Hall (933 Hopmeadow Street):

  • Open Monday and Wednesday from 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Open Friday from 8:30am-1:00pm
  • Visitors will continue to be checked in at the central reception desk and screened for their health status prior to being admitted to the relevant department for service
  • When authorized for an appointment, only one patron will be permitted per department at any time. Exceptions may be made when patrons are conducting research in the Town’s vault and proper distancing can be maintained. Reasonable accommodations will be made as required by law for disabled persons on a case by case basis.
  • Patrons are encouraged to conduct transactions by phone, mail, email, or online; visits to Town Hall should be limited to official business only
  • If there is paperwork required for the service you are seeking, visitors are encouraged to call ahead and complete as much as possible before coming to Town Hall
  • To minimize the need for quarantining of materials and to keep land records and building permit records readily available to the public, staff will continue to process records requests electronically to the extent practicable.
  • During all other times, the building will remain closed to walk-in visitors; access will be by appointment only

Simsbury Public Library (725 Hopmeadow Street):

  • Open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am-8:30pm
  • Open Saturday from 9:30am-5:30pm
  • One hour of computer use is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00am-5:00pm; to make an appointment, call 860-658-7663 and select option 2
  • Curbside service is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; pick-up is on the upper level

Individuals that have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, or are currently ill should refrain from visiting the Town Hall and Library in person. All staff and visitors to Town buildings are required to properly wear face coverings.

Access to all other Town buildings is by appointment only until further notice. Town employees are reporting to duty at all locations, and are available to schedule in-person appointments for services that cannot be completed by phone, mail, email, or virtually. Town departments will not be accepting cash transactions until further notice.  Payments can be made by check, debit card, or credit card. Checks may be mailed to the Town at 933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070 or left at our secure drop box at Town Hall.

The Department of Community and Social Services continues to provide its food programs, daily virtual programming, and is accepting applications for energy assistance. The department will begin taking applications for Renters’ Rebate on June 1. The Senior Center is currently offering tax assistance with AARP.  Call 860-658-3283 for additional information.

Please be advised that staff continues to reevaluate reopening plans in connection with the latest public health data and guidance from the Farmington Valley Health District and the State of Connecticut.  Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we continue to address the emerging issues related to COVID-19.
