Update as of 7.31.20 Regarding Absentee Ballots for the August 11th Presidential Preference Primaries

All applications received by the Simsbury Town Clerk’s Office have been entered into the State of Connecticut’s Election Voter Registration System, and will continue to be entered in daily as we receive them. It was our office's understanding that ballots were going to be mailed out by the Secretary of the State’s Office (via a mail house) starting July 21st. This did not happen. There was a delay and we were informed by the Secretary of the State's Office that ballots are being mailed out in three waves; yesterday 7.30, today 7.31 and tomorrow 8.1. Please note that this delay was not on our end in the Town Clerk’s Office and that all applications were entered in on time. You should be receiving your ballot shortly if you submitted an application. When you do receive your ballot please note that there was an error in the instructions printed on “Envelope B.” There is NOT an outer serial numbered envelope “C” to place envelope “B” containing your ballot into. You will simply place envelope “B” after SIGNING AND DATING it into the windowed mailing envelope that is provided to mail your ballot to our office. Please do not forget to sign and date envelope “B.” This needs to be done in order for your ballot to be counted. If at all possible, please try and utilize the secure lock-box outside of the Town Hall entrance to return your voted ballot. This will help in avoiding any possible delays with the mail. Attached is a sample of “Envelope B” and a picture of the lockbox.

*Reminder* Polling locations will be open on Primary day, 8.11.20 from 6 am to 8 pm if you choose to vote in person at your polling location.

Thank you for your patience and know that you can reach out to the Town Clerk’s Office at (860) 658-3243 if you have any questions.

Stay well!
