Winter Storm Approaches Simsbury for Tuesday, March 13th – Residents Urged to Prepare in Advance

STORM PREPARATION:
Town of Simsbury emergency personnel continue to monitor a winter storm which could result in significant snowfall.  Town residents should prepare to shelter in place if that becomes necessary.  Residents should secure supplies such as food, gasoline for vehicles, cash, generators, snow removal equipment and home heating fuel, water, medicines and batteries in advance of the storm.  For more information about preparing for a storm, please visit: http://www.simsbury-ct.gov/preparedness.

PARKING BAN:
Parking on public roadways is prohibited any time snow operations are in progress.  Residents are also reminded to keep garbage and recycling cans out of the road to ensure that snow plows have clear road access.

CLEARING HYDRANTS:
In order to ensure that fire department personnel can respond in the event of an emergency, residents are asked to clear snow away from fire hydrants.

OUTAGE INFORMATION:
Residents should contact Eversource at (800) 286-2000 if they lose power during the storm, or on the Eversource website at www.eversource.com.  Remember that Eversource will not know about a power outage unless it has been called in.  Eversource customers are also encouraged to sign up to receive storm outage updates on the channel of their choice (text, email, phone call) at www.eversource.com.
