OBTAINING ACCIDENT REPORTS

For Accidents that Took Place in Simsbury, CT Only

We recommend you call or email ahead to determine if the report is available. Please have the incident number available, if possible. Otherwise, provide information such as driver’s name, officer’s name, date and location of accident. Our accident reports are not available online.

How long does it take until the report is complete?

Typically, accident reports are available in 6-12 business days, but can take longer. The date of availability can vary due to many factors; including length of investigation, severity of injury, number of involved vehicles, the processing of witness statements, obtaining proof of current registration and insurance information, etc.

Additionally, the officer and supervisor’s work schedules and workload significantly impact the completion date. If  the Records Division does not yet have the report and it has been at least ten (10) days since the accident, or if you have follow-up questions regarding the incident, you may contact either the officer or supervisor at 860-658-3100 with questions.

Most reports are about ten (10) pages long. Some accidents may have supplemental reports and/or pictures available. There is an additional charge for these documents. Please contact us at 860-658-3125 to inquire.

Parking lot (private property) accidents and those accidents reported to the Simsbury Police Department past-tense typically have either no written report, a short incident report or an Accident Summary form only.
