Simsbury Technology Task Force

Mission

To assist the Town in developing and maintaining a comprehensive technology platform, staffing and services strategy.  The strategy will focus on improving services for our citizens, businesses and Town employees.  The Technology Task Force will work with citizens, Town employees and other entities as needed to evaluate existing IT services, processes and infrastructure in order to make cost conscious recommendations to maintain and enhance existing products and services and to integrate emerging technologies as appropriate.

Focus Areas

Planning:  Define the current and future state of Town technology; prepare and maintain a roadmap for future technological advancement.
Security:  Protect access to the sensitive data and processes of the Town and our partners.
Services to Citizens:  Expand current and future system services to Town residents.
Service Availability and Disaster Preparedness:  Ensure the Town continuous system services or, in the event of a major incident, rapid recovery of computer systems and data.
Usability:  Provide systems and processes that Town staff and residents find efficient and easy to use.
Cost Control:  Assist Town staff with the development of appropriate budgeting for technology.
Governance:  Recommend policies and procedures that govern adoption and use of technology.
