Simsbury Town Clerk's Office Services During Limited Open-to-the-Public Hours

Please be advised that the Town of Simsbury is now open to the public Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am-9:30am for senior citizens and 9:30-NOON for all others. Therefore, the Town Clerk’s Office is only open to the public during these hours. If possible, consider utilizing the Town's lock-box, the postal service, email or telephone to conduct business with our office. 

  • Marriage licenses:
    • If you are getting married and need to obtain a marriage license, please visit the Town Clerk's office during the above hours and bring along your already completed worksheet which can be found here: https://www.simsbury-ct.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif9751/f/pages/marriage_license_worksheet.pdf. Please note: Executive Order 7L extends the sixty-five (65) day period of validity for marriage licenses for an additional sixty (60) days for any marriage license that is obtained or that will expire during the declared public health and civil preparedness emergency and permits those seeking a marriage license to obtain it in a different municipality than where it will be celebrated. 
  • Death certificates, burial permits & cremation certificates:
    • If you need to file a death certificate and do not need certified copies or permits issued, please consider filing the certificate via mail (please do not fold certificate when mailing). It can be mailed to: Simsbury Town Clerk’s Office, 933 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070
    • If you need certified copies and permits, please visit the Town Clerk's Office during the above hours.
      • Reminder, if you are an approved sub-register in your Town (appointed by Town Clerk), you may issue permits in the absence of the Town Clerk; the death certificate can then be filed via mail and certified copies can then be mailed out from our office after filing. Please include payment for certified copies.
  • Land record recordings:
    • The Simsbury Town Clerk’s Office currently accepts recordings electronically through four vendors. Please see here for more information. If you are a current customer of one of these vendors, please consider submitting your recordings electronically during this time. If you are not a customer of one of these vendors, but would like to record electronically at this time and in the future, contact one of the vendors
    • If you do not have the capability of recording electronically or would prefer not to, please consider mailing in your original documents and payments for recording or dropping them in the lock-box outside the Town Hall entrance. Provide an email or phone number and we will get the receipt information to you as soon as possible.

  • Land record copies:
    • The Town of Simsbury’s land records are available online via RecordHub dating back to 1976. The index can be accessed for free. If you need to view /print documents you will need to subscribe to RecordHub. Please visit RecordHub here. If you are in need of land records prior to 1976, please visit the Town Clerk's office during the above hours.
    • **NEW**  Temporary RECORDhub Subscription-To facilitate greater access to your online records, we will be implementing a temporary RECORDhub subscription for Connecticut Town Clerks with NO SUBSCRIPTION FEE and $2.00 per page prints for your customers.  This new temporary subscription will be available starting at 12:00 am on Monday, March 23, 2020, and will continue until further notice.  The subscription will be named "Land Records – Temporary No Fee" and will be available in the list of subscription options for your town. This is a “day forward” option beginning March 23, 2020.  All current RECORDhub subscriptions will remain in effect.
  • Vital record copies:
    • Please request a copy of a vital record through the mail or using the Town's lock-box. We can then mail you your certified copy. The applications and more information can be found here. 
    • To request a certified copy in person, please visit the Town Clerk's Office during the above hours. 
  • Liquor permit filings:
    • Please mail original to the Town Clerk’s Office with payment of $20 to cover the filing fee or drop it in the Town's lock-box; original will be stamped and mailed back to you at the address you provide us with.

  • Trade name filings:
    • Please mail original, notarized form  to the Town Clerk’s Office with payment of $10 to cover the filing fee; original will be filed and receipt and copy for your records will be mailed back to you at the address you provide us with.

    • Residents can renew online (new this year!), renew through the mail, or utilize the lock-box outside of Town Hall to drop renewal(s) off. New registrations can be mailed in or dropped off in the lock-box.
