May 5, 2014 Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Rick Bazzano, Tom Cooke, Mike Doyle, Nancy Haase, Lauren Hennebury, Pam Lacko, Mark Orenstein, Ray Rosati, Mahen Shukla.  Absent: Lisa Heavner, Eric Zematis

The meeting commenced at 5:00pm with a thank you to the task force for their efforts in the technology related budget process.

Pam Lacko, chairman, asked Rick Bazzano to go through each of the technology initiatives outlined in the 2014-2015 budget and give a status on each. After the review, the task force offered to lend support and aid in any of the initiatives if needed or appropriate going forward. It was agreed that Rick Bazzano will forward a draft of the new technician position to the task force before it is posted/advertised for feedback.

Rick Bazzano also gave an overview of the town’s interest in GIS (geographical information systems) and showed examples of our current system and data along with a sample of South Windsor’s solution. Nancy Haase discussed the interest in GIS from the Economic Development Committee and their new task force. It was agreed that the Technology Task Force and EDC’s task force would discuss jointly at the appropriate time. The group thought it would be a good idea to have the technology director of South Windsor come to a meeting this summer to show their GIS solution and allow the various end users from the town to listen and ask questions to gain better insight of what requirements are met with their system.
