Dog Licensing

DOG LICENSING

Licenses are valid from July 1st through June 30th of each year.  Licensing begins June 1st for each year (not available prior to that date).   Dogs six (6) months or older must be licensed before July 1st each year.  New dog licenses and renewals can be obtained through the mail (send to: 933 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury CT 06070), in person, or via the drop box outside the Town Hall entrance.  Renewals (not new registrations) can also be done online during the month of June only - see Online License Renewal section below.  (Please note that if you move into town or adopt a dog older than 6 months between 7/1 and 6/30 the following year they do need to be licensed as well.)

Licensing Fees

Licensing fees are $8 for a spayed (S) or neutered (N) dog, $19 for an unaltered dog.  NOTE: A late fee of $1 per month (per dog) is added to the licensing fee for dogs licensed after June 30th.  Proof of spaying or neutering must be provided the first time a dog is licensed to qualify for the lower fee. (i.e., either actual spay/neuter certificate or other veterinarian’s report that indicates spay or neuter)
