REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

ROLL CALL – The following members were present: Cheryl Cook, Sally Reiger, Dep. Chief Davis, Amy Muska, Kristen Formanek, Staff Liaison, Tom Steen, Becky Rosenberg, and Deborah Schwager.
CALL TO ORDER – The meeting was called to order at 5:36pm.
PUBLIC AUDIENCE/PUBLIC COMMENTS - None
UPDATE FROM THE CHAIR – Cheryl Cook reviewed the February program on Domestic Violence and thanked those members who worked on the presentation. She then outlined the agenda for the meeting and asked for a volunteer to work on updating the website.
Kristen Formanek updated the members on programs and services provided by the Community and Social Services Department and challenges faced by her staff due to the pandemic. Food distribution programs are in need of financial support in the form of grocery gift cards and additional items for distribution. She also discussed drafting a Policies and Procedures document for the members to review and discuss and ultimately present to the Board of Selectmen.
Cheryl Cook updated the members on the work of the Simsbury Spirit Council.
Cheryl Cook opened the discussion on virtual programming for the May program. Discussion centered on planning a program around “Self-Care Strategies for Life after COVID.” The members discussed options for a panel led program and agreed to pursue contacting potential panelists and developing a resource list. The members agreed to ask the Library to host the program.
Tom Steen updated the group on Suicide Prevention programing now available and the need for additional training and public awareness programs for children and adults. The members discussed planning for Suicide Prevention month in September.
Sally Reiger updated the members on walking trails and hikes sponsored by the Simsbury Land Trust.
Amy Muska updated members on the re-entry of students at Simsbury High School.
