REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

ROLL CALL – The following members were present: Cheryl Cook; Sally Reiger; Dep. Chief Davis; Amy Muska; Dana Olson, Staff Assistant; Tom Steen; Becky Rosenberg; Sarah Gwinn; Katie Kascula; Kathy Marshall, Senior Center Director; Karen Gallagher; and Deborah Schwager.

CALL TO ORDER – The meeting was called to order at 5:38pm.

PUBLIC AUDIENCE/PUBLIC COMMENTS – None

UPDATE FROM THE CHAIR – Cheryl Cook reviewed the items for discussion and outlined the Program to be presented on Self-Care After COVID, and thanked those members who worked on the presentation.

ACTION ITEMS – Becky R. made a motion to accept the minutes of March 10, 2021, and Karen Gallagher seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

The committee had a general discussion of the policies and procedure proposed for the Board of Selectmen to review.  The committee discussed and reached a consensus around recommending 12 members for the committee going forward.  Cheryl Cook advised the committee that Kristen Formanek is working on the proposed policies and a draft would be circulated to committee members for further comment.

Committee members requested an update on the work of the Simsbury Spirit Council and a general discussion was had regarding areas of overlap in missions that might result in joint programming in the future. Options regarding mental health trends were discussed.

Cheryl Cook opened the discussion on the September 2021 program plan for suicide prevention month.  Tom Steen updated the group on new program options available and agreed to take the lead on planning for the September program.

A motion to adjourn the regular meeting was made by Sally Reiger and seconded by Karen Gallagher.  All were in favor. The members adjourned to the planned program on Self-Care After COVID.

ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:18pm
