SIMSBURY COMMUNITY FOR CARE
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES

March 30, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.

ROLL CALL – The following were present: Cheryl Cook, Deborah Schwager, Lydia Tedone, Tom Steen, Sally Reiger, Deputy Chief Davis of the Simsbury Police Department, Lisa Gray of A Promise to Jordan, Katie Krasula of the Simsbury Board of Education, and Heather Goetz from the Simsbury Board of Selectmen.

CALL TO ORDER – The meeting was called to order at 5:32pm.

PUBLIC AUDIENCE/PUBLIC COMMENTS - None

ACTION ITEMS –

1. The committee voted unanimously to accept the calendar for the       remaining meetings in 2022. Cheryl moved and Deb Schwager seconded

2. The committee voted unanimously to hold meetings in person.  Cheryl moved and Tom Steen seconded.

NEW BUSINESS: -

  1. The committee discussed the May 11 program options and decided to go forward with the Living Well Caregiver format for caregivers of persons with dementia.Deb Schwager and Deputy Chief Davis volunteered to work on the program.
  2. The committee discussed possibilities for the September 14th program and decided to pursue further ideas for a program related to suicide prevention and drug overdose.Ms. Gray discussed the possibility of Simsbury becoming a Recovery friendly community in September and programing available through Sandy Hook Promise.A round table discussion format was discussed as a possibility for the September program.
  3. Ms. Gray made the committee aware of the young adult book discussion to be held in partnership with the department of Social services on June 15th and offed to make the book available to CFC members.
  4. Cheryl read an update from Simsbury Community and Social Services regarding the budget process, the new location for Food Pantry distribution, the energy assistance program and Senior Center programs.
