CONSERVATION COMMISSION/INLAND WETLANDS AND WATERCOURSES AGENCY

REGULAR MEETING – TUESDAY, MAY 21, 2019 – 7:30 p.m.

SIMSBURY TOWN OFFICES – MAIN MEETING ROOM

I.             CALL TO ORDER-The meeting was called to order by Chair Margery Winters at 7:30pm.

 

II.            ROLL CALL

                  Present: Margery Winters, Jason Levy, Kevin McCusker, Donald Rieger, Donald Eaton                    Absent: James Morrison, Charles Haldeman, Grant Gritzmacher

                  Staff Present: Robin Newton, Assistant Town Planner

1.            Applications:

a.            None

 

V.            NEW BUSINESS

1.            Receipt of New Applications

a.            Application #19-03 of Hetal Shah, Applicant; Aquarion Water Company, Owner; for regulated activities within the upland review area related to the construction of the Eno Place Centralized Treatment Facility on the properties located at 4 Eno Place (Assessor’s Map I06, Block 141, Lot 001) and 5 Eno Place (Assessor’s Map I06, Block 141, Lot 003B). Zone R-40. (to be received 05/21/2019; decision must be rendered by 07/25/2019)

 

The application was received by the Conservation Commission on 5/21/2019.

 

b.            Application #19-04 of Hetal Shah, Applicant; Aquarion Water Company, Owner; for regulated activities within the wetlands and upland review area related to the construction of the Stratton Brook Centralized Treatment Facility on the property located at 190 Stratton Brook Road (Assessor’s Map D12, Block 151, Lot 008C). Zone R-40. (to be received 05/21/2019; decision must be rendered by 07/25/2019)

 

The application was received by the Conservation Commission on 5/21/2019.

 

VI.          GENERAL COMMISSION BUSINESS

 

1.            Approval of the Minutes of the May 7, 2019 regular meeting.

The minutes were approved as-is.

 

2.            Referral from Open Space Committee regarding Open Space Stewardship and Management

A letter to Town Manager, Maria Capriola and First Selectman, Eric Wellman was sent from Chair Winters on behalf of the Conservation Commission.  There has been no response from the Board of Selectman as of 5/21/2019.

 

3.            Correspondence

Town Planner, Robin Newton, handed out a letter from Anita L. Mielert regarding Open Space Committee Duties. Chair Winters read the letter to the Conservation Commission.

 

VII.         CONSERVATION COMMISSION DUTY WORK

Commissioner Rieger discussed the celebration of the ‘Wild and Scenic River’ designation and the visit from Senator Chris Murphy.

 

VIII.        ADJOURNMENT

Motion: Commissioner Levy made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner McKusker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm.
