Simsbury Community Photography Contest

Purpose of Contest

The Town of Simsbury and the Simsbury Economic Development Commission are holding the first annual Community Photography Contest to collect photos for use on the Town's website and for other Town publications.   Whether you're a professional or an aspiring photographer, we encourage you to submit your best work!  Please read the important guidelines below before uploading your photos.

Submission Categories

  • Professional

  • Amateur (individual age 18 years or older)

  • Student (individual currently enrolled in grade 12 or below)

Eligibility and Judging

  • The photo contest is open to all who live and work in Simsbury

  • The deadline for submitting photos for this year will be May 1, 2016.

  • Winners will be selected by a panel of independent judges/town officials

  • Images will be chosen in each submission category based on originality, technical excellence, composition and overall impact

  • The Town, in its sole and absolute discretion, shall determine the winners in each category.

 Photo Guidelines

  • Please avoid close-ups where children are recognizable as this photos will not be used.

  • You must agree that all subjects are 18 years of age or older or that you have a parent/guardian signed waiver acknowledging that all photos with recognizable adults were taken at public events.

  • All photos submitted may be used on the Town of Simsbury website(s) and/or in our print publications and agree to grant the Town of Simsbury a royalty-free, nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to:

    • Use the photographs on Town or other internet sites, including social media

    • Use the Photographs in the Town’s print communications

    • Keep the files provided, and to archive the images

  • No compensation will be provided for use of the photos and there is no guarantee that the photos submitted will be used.

  • Maximum file size is 10MB and must be taken with a digital camera.File types limited to jpg, jpeg, bmp, gif, tif, png.

  • All photographs must be submitted as a high quality image suitable for printing and should be at least 300 dpi.

  • All photos must be the photographer’s original work

  • The Town reserves the right to resize and/or crop the image for optimal viewing
