COVID-19 Update: April 5, 2020

Please visit the following link for an update on COVID-19 response and readiness from the Town Manager, First Selectman, Chief of Police, Fire Chief, Executive Director of the Volunteer Ambulance Association, and Director of Community and Social Services: https://www.simsburytv.org/v/OlPxawVvyXM

As a reminder, Town buildings are closed to the public until further notice, including the Simsbury bulky waste/recycling center as of April 3.  All playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, paddle tennis courts, and the skatepark at Memorial Park are also closed.  Our parks, open space parcels, and trails remain open for passive recreation such as walking, hiking, and cycling. Patrons utilizing our parks, open spaces, and trails should not be engaging in organized play.  We request that people utilizing our parks apply social distancing practices and keep safe distances from other patrons.

The Farmington Valley Health District has advised that due to the rapid escalation of COVID-19 cases across the country, in our state, and in our community, and the proportionately small number of individuals that are actually being tested in Connecticut, we need to move to a model that assumes that anyone suffering fever, cough or difficulty breathing has COVID-19.  The Health District has prepared the chart attached below to help you determine what actions you and your family need to take to protect yourselves and slow the spread of this virus in our communities.

Residents who are looking for ways to help are encouraged to review the attached flyer, which outlines ways to donate and volunteer during this time.
