First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis Appoints Amber Abbuhl Deputy

Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis appointed Selectman Amber Abbuhl deputy first selectman following the town’s swearing-in ceremony held on Monday.

“Given Amber’s professional experience and her dedication to serving our community, I can think of no better choice to serve as deputy first selectman. We are both committed to working in a bipartisan manner with our full board, and my board and commission assignments exemplify that,” said Mackstutis. “As your first selectman, I’m looking forward to working with Amber and our entire board with Simsbury’s best interest always in our hearts and minds.”

Abbuhl and her family relocated to Simsbury in 2014 from Colorado, where she was a litigator for a large regional law firm focusing on contract disputes, commercial leases, fraud, and land use and real estate matters. She was previously the corporate controller of a private company headquartered in Denver, and an audit manager at a national public accounting firm. She holds a J.D. from the University of Denver, where she was editor-in-chief of the University of Denver Law Review.

She is an active member of the Simsbury Junior Woman’s Club, and a past member of the Tootin’ Hills School PTO, serving as treasurer and president of both organizations. She is also an elected member of the Simsbury Library Board of Trustees, a member of the Simsbury Celebrates Committee, a volunteer with the Simsbury Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, and Books to Your Door, and is chair of the Deacon’s Committee of First Church of Christ.

Abbuhl and her husband Tim reside in West Simsbury with their teenage twins.
