Board of Selectmen Budget Workshop Schedule for Consideration of the First Selectman’s FY2017 Budget

Residents of the Town of Simsbury are welcome to attend the Board of Selectmen’s budget workshops, at which the Board of Selectmen will review the budget proposed by the First Selectman and finalize it for consideration by the Board of Finance.  The schedule of meetings, which will take place in the Main Meeting Room of Town Hall, is as follows:

  • Presentation of the First Selectman’s budget to the Board of Selectmen:Monday evening, February 29th at 5:30 pm

  • Board of Selectmen budget workshops:

    • Thursday evening, March 10th at 5:30 pm

    • Saturday, March 12th beginningat 8:00 am

  • As necessary, meetings on Wednesday, March 16th at 5:30 pm and Saturday, March 19th at 8:00 am.

    Information about the proposed budget will be posted on the Town’s website as it becomes available.

    Simsbury Community for Care offers Panel on the Impact of Drugs on Youth and Young Adults, Wednesday, February 24th at 6:00 pm – Simsbury Public Library Program Room

    The Simsbury Community for Care will conduct a panel discussion on the impact of drugs on youth and young adults this Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm in the Simsbury Public Library’s Program Room.  The panel discussion will be led by Marc Lehman, LMFT and will focus on the tools available to help recognize and address this growing problem.  I want to thank the Simsbury Community for Care for its leadership on this and the many related issue and I urge residents to attend on the 24th.

    AARP Tax Aides Offer Tax Assistance Program to Simsbury Residents

    I am pleased to announce that the Simsbury Senior Center and the Simsbury Public Library are once again sponsoring the AARP Tax Aide program.  The program provides trained and certified tax volunteers who work one-on-one with taxpayers to prepare and electronically file both federal and state tax returns free of charge.  To participate in the program, taxpayers must first book an appointment by calling the Simsbury Senior Center at (860) 658-3273.  Scheduled meetings with tax aides will be held at the Simsbury Public Library from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Thursdays, beginning on February 4th and continuing through April 7th.  The program is free of charge and open to anyone who needs assistance regardless of age or town of residence.  My thanks to Social Services Director Mickey Lecours-Beck and Library Director Lisa Karim for making this program available.

    Time to Get Your Ducks in a Row!  Simsbury Duck Race – 2016

    The Tootin’ Hills PTO is sponsoring Simsbury’s second Duck Race at the Historic Drake Hill Flower Bridge on Friday, May 20th, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.  The event is lots of fun and it serves as a fundraiser for the Tootin’ Hills PTO which is a 501(c)(3) organization.  There are different sponsorship levels and I encourage you to participate.  For more information, please visit the event website at www.simsburyduckrace.com
