NO PHONE ZONE Promise

Simsbury Social Services Director, Mickey Lecours-Beck, and Chief of Police, Peter Ingvertsen, have announced a new local effort to discourage the use of cell phones while driving.

“We are asking licensed Simsbury drivers to sign the Simsbury No Phone Zone Promise”, said Lecours-Beck.  The “Promise” provides three options:  you may promise not to text, you may promise to use a hands-free device when using your phone, or you may promise not to use your cell phone at all while driving.

Chief Ingvertsen feels this is an important initiative, saying “our goal is to prevent distracted driving and the resulting car crashes that may occur”.

Each licensed Simsbury driver that signs the Promise will receive a No Phone Zone magnet for their car, a silicone bracelet, and a free No Phone Zone Sundae (while supply lasts) from J. Foster Ice Cream store on Hopmeadow Street.

Sign the Simsbury NO PHONE ZONE PROMISE at the Social Services Department office at Eno Hall. (For further information, call 860 658-3283).
