Public Hearing Scheduled for Town Plan

Public Hearing Scheduled for Town Plan

SIMSBURY – The Planning Commission has been working for the last year or so on updating Simsbury’s Plan of Conservation and Development and has released a proposed Plan for additional community review.  The proposed 2023  ̶  33 Plan will be the subject of a public hearing to consider adoption which is scheduled for:

Tuesday October 24, 2023

7:00 PM

Simsbury Library – Lower Level Meeting Room

The hearing will provide an opportunity for Simsbury residents to provide comments on the proposed Plan and the policies and action steps recommended.  The proposed Plan, dated August 11, 2023, may be found on the Town’s website at www.simsbury-ct.gov

Throughout the process, the Planning Commission has sought community input and guidance:

  • An online survey in November and December of 2022
  • A community scoping meeting in January 2023
  • A workshop in June 2023 on an initial draft of the Plan

Following the public hearing, the Planning Commission will review community input and then revisit the POCD for possible changes.

The proposed Plan of Conservation and Development, which is a strategic update of the Plan adopted in 2017, is an advisory document used by the Planning Commission and other Town agencies to:

  • Promote the overall sustainability of the community
  • Protect the resources and assets important to residents
  • Guide growth and change in Simsbury
  • Identify facilities and services needed or wanted to support the community
