Simsbury COVID Data - Week Ending September 4, 2021

Simsbury is in the “orange” status of the state’s municipal COVID alert system; we are currently at 14.1 cases per 100,000 people, an increase from 11 for the week prior. We have been at orange status for four consecutive weeks.

The Farmington Valley Health District is at “substantial” risk (84.7 cases per 100,000) for community transmission based on CDC definitions, while Hartford County and the state of Connecticut remain at “high” risk. In areas with “substantial” transmission or higher, the CDC recommends that everyone (including fully vaccinated individuals) wear a mask in public indoor settings.

Based on local feedback and consultation with the Health District, the Town Manager has made two modifications to the municipal mask executive order. One change is to increase the age required to wear a mask from age 2 to age 3. The second is to remove the word “partition” from the order; as long as at least 6 feet of distancing can be provided for indoor settings, a mask for vaccinated individuals is not required.  The regional local public health directors have been working towards establishing metrics for rescinding local executive orders regarding masks.  They are making progress and the Town Manager will report out on this soon.

The Farmington Valley Health District, working in partnership with the Simsbury Main Street Partnership, wants to help you and your staff members get vaccinated. They will come to your work place for convenience. It is free with no out-of-pocket fees or insurance required.
