Update on COVID Test Distribution - 1/3/2022

The Town of Simsbury has received a shipment of COVID test kits from the State of Connecticut.  This shipment was much less than the amount the Town expected to receive based on information released by the State last week.

Based on guidance provided by the State and recommendations from the Farmington Valley Health District, the test kits will be distributed for essential municipal services/public safety, daycares, and settings that support vulnerable populations.

The school system was informed today that it will be receiving a separate distribution this week.  If those test kits are not received, the Town will need to provide for the schools from our limited supply.  Assuming the schools receive the allocation of test kits from the State, a very limited public distribution will be scheduled at a later date.  If a public distribution is held, the number of tests available will be far below the demand. The supply of test kits provided by the State was insufficient, and there simply are not enough kits to provide one to every household.

Please note that this information continues to evolve daily, and details are subject to change.  The Town will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
