MINUTES

1. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 5:45 pm. Sub-Committee Chair Chris Kelly and Sub-Committee members Cheryl Cook and Sean Askham were present. Director of Administrative Services Thomas Cooke was also present.

3. Public Audience

Joan Coe, 26 Whitcomb Drive, spoke at public audience. She stated that there is a need for individuals to take leadership and take the right action for the town and suggested the need to initiate a Charter Revision Commission.

4. Approval of Minutes

There were no changes to the minutes for the November 24, 2014 Personnel Sub-Committee Meeting.

5. Development of purpose, structure, dates, and communication plan for requested two public hearings on the First Selectman's salary and form of government

Using a form developed by Mr. Kelly as a basis, the sub-committee proposed conducting two public hearings to solicit public input on the First Selectman’s salary and the possibility of initiating a charter revision process. A copy of the completed form is attached hereto. The sub-committee was particularly interested in generating public interest in the budget process.

The sub-committee sought to gather information about the history of the process which lead to recommended changes in the First Selectman’s salary, the charter revision process, the results of prior charter revision commission activities in Simsbury, and the structure of government in comparable Towns. The sub-committee agreed that a second meeting to review background materials and to schedule the public hearings was a good next step.

6. Adjourn

Ms. Cook made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Mr. Askham seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 6:42 pm.
