POLICE COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 15, 2014
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Police Commission was called to order at 7:15 P.M. in the Police Department Training Room of the Simsbury Town Offices. Present were Commissioner Michael Long, Commissioner Edward Cosgrove, Commissioner James Fleming and Captain Nicholas Boulter.

Commissioner Long read the Summary of Letters received since the last Regular Meeting of the Commission on September 8, 2014. (Addendum 1)
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
As only one member of the Commission who was in attendance at the September 8th Regular Meeting was present, it was unanimously decided to approve the minutes of the September 8th Meeting at the next meeting of the Commission. (Addendum 2)
5. PUBLIC AUDIENCE
None
6. OLD BUSINESS
Captain Boulter provided the Commission with an update on the Town’s efforts to recover the overtime costs incurred after the March 2012 motor vehicle accident where three patrol officers were injured. An update on the progress of the department’s two newest officers and the process to fill the department vacancies was also provided to the Commissioners.

Chief’s Report
The Captain reported the following to the Commission:
The Department recently received State of Connecticut reaccreditation.
Project Lifesaver training continues, with twenty-three officers already trained. Once training is complete the program will be rolled out.

Captain Boulter updated the Commission on the status of the burglaries that have recently occurred in town.
October is fire prevention month.
The department is in the process of wrapping up the High Risk Rural Road Grant and will soon be requesting reimbursement.

8. NEW BUSINESS
Commissioner Long asked that in the future the department consider providing the Commission with an educational presentation.
Captain Boulter told the Commission that the department’s two School Resource Officers recently did an excellent presentation for the members of “Community for Concern” on the identification of illegal drugs and the signs and symptoms of their use.
9. AJOURNMENT
Commissioner Cosgrove made motion to adjourn at 7:45 P.M. Commissioner Fleming seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.
