REGULAR MEETING
APRIL 13, 2015
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Police Commission was called to order at 7:01 P.M. in the Police Department Training Room of the Simsbury Town Offices. Present were Chairman Michael Long, Commissioner James Fleming, Commissioner Carl Eisenmann, Commissioner Edward Cosgrove, Chief Peter Ingvertsen and Captain Nicholas Boulter. Commissioner Brendan Walsh was not present.

3. CORRESPONDENCE
Commissioner Fleming read the Summary of Letters received since the last Regular Meeting of the Commission on March 9, 2015. (Addendum 1)
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Eisenmann made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Cosgrove and passed unanimously to approve the minutes of the March 9, 2015 Regular Meeting and March 19, 2015 Special Meeting. (Addendum 2 and 3)
5. PUBLIC AUDIENCE
none
6. OLD BUSINESS
The Chief reported that the Department’s probationary patrol officer, Trevor Brittell has been released from field training and is currently working on B squad. Officer Marano has begun field training and is performing well. Officer Johnson entered the Police Academy on April 2nd and is reportedly doing fine. The fifteenth Citizens’ Police Academy class will be graduating on April 30th at La Trattoria in Canton. The 2nd confidential paper shredding event is scheduled for April 18th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Town Hall parking lot. The Chief’s deposition for the Town of Simsbury v. Corinne Nevers lawsuit was postponed and rescheduled for April 23rd. The Department has received reports of 96 IRS fraud cases during the tax season this year. The installation of the new crossing light at Ethel Walker School will begin this summer and is being coordinated by Ethel Walker School officials and the State of Connecticut. The Department continues to work on the November 2014 homicide investigation with two outside agencies.

- Chief’s Report
Chief Ingvertsen reported the following:
The Department applied for and received approval for an $18,000. JAG grant that will be used to purchase two new servers which will allow the department to more efficiently store data downloaded from the cruiser cameras.
The Chief introduced Officer J. P. Lessard to the members of the Commission. Officer Lessard then provided a presentation to the Commission on a service that the Department provides to residents/businesses who have been the victims of a burglary or attempted burglary. The presentation entitled Residential and Commercial Security Assessment explained how the Assessment can help individuals and businesses identify ways that they can improve the safety of their residence or business.

No issues were noted.
8. NEW BUSINESS
Commissioner Fleming asked about scheduling a second Taser presentation because he was unable to attend the one held on April 9th. The other Commissioners indicated that they would also be interested in attending. The Chief said that he would try to schedule another session in the near future.
9. AJOURNMENT
Commissioner Cosgrove made motion to adjourn at 7:50 P.M. Commissioner Eisenmann seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion passed.
