Meeting Minutes

Public Building Committee
March 4, 2013

Chairman Ostop called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Education Conference Room in Simsbury Town Hall.
Present: Cortes, Derr, Dragulski, Kelly, Ostop, Patrina, Salvatore
Absent:  Boardman, Laureno
Guests:  Sawitzke, Haase

1.  Minutes – February 4, 2013
Mr. Salvatore moved, Mr.Kelly seconded and the minutes were unanimously approved as presented.

2.  Public Audience – No one spoke

3.  Simsbury Farms Main Building
Mr. Sawitzke reported that he has received all of the appropriate paper work.  The one remaining item is for the PBC to authorize release of the final retainage which he will present next month.

4.  Eno Memorial Hall/Senior Center
Mr. Sawitzke spoke to the letter he drafted to be presented to the Board of Selectmen by the PBC re the Senior Community Center Study  Recommendations.  There was discussion and input from all members.
Some of the issues raised were (1) that the senior center should be in the center of Town (2) the Performing Arts Center location should include environmental information (a statement will be added addressing this (3) that the Bushy Hill/Stratton Brook location, although not in the center of Town is in fact in the center of the population
(4) removal of one of the asterisks re the figures for the Performing Arts Center which were prepared in Nov. 2012 and would now be decreased
(5) the potential for some opposition to the Bushy Hill/Stratton Brook location due to an aquifer in the area (6) schematics for both levels of the Eno Parking Garage should be included in presentations and handouts.

A copy of the revised letter will be sent to all Committee members for review.

7.  Adjourn – The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m. on a motion by Mr. Cortes, a second by Mr. Salvatore and a unanimously favorable vote.
