SIMSBURY FARMS COMPLEX COMMITTEE

Minutes of November 14, 2013 meeting

 

Those present: Members - Sarah Cramer, David Dell, Maryanne Daly-Doran, Dennis Fallon, Ron Patterson, Gerry Post. Staff - Gerry Toner.  Others - Gerry Wetjen (CP&R)

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.

 

Minutes: The September 2013 minutes were accepted as submitted.

 

Golf Course;

 

 The proposed golf course business plan was discussed and Gerry Wetjen answered committee member questions regarding his proposal. After a lengthy discussion and vote by its members the Simsbury Farms Commission approved moving the plan to CP&R for consideration.

 

Other golf course business discussed was the course improvement projects that Mike Wallace and his staff have completed to date. It was agreed the course improvement have received many positive comments from players on the course.

 

Complimentary Green Fee Policy

 

A proposed policy drafted by Dave Dell to allow certain staff members and golf professionals the courtesy of golfing free of charge at the Simsbury Farms course was discussed. This policy drafted reflects that in place by many public and private courses in the area. The Simsbury Farms Commission members approved moving the proposed policy to CP&R for consideration.

 

Renaming request

 

A request was received to rename the main complex building after past Simsbury Farms Commission Member and Chairman Tom West. After much discussion a suggestion was made to consider an option of renaming the main complex road after Tom West. Gerry Toner will discuss the options further with members of the Men’s Club who submitted the initial request.

 

Simsbury Farms Commission approved moving the request to CP&R for consideration.

 

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
