ROLL CALL:

In attendance were; Annalise Febus-Barlow, Carl Clark-Flanagan, Chris Kelly, Diana Yeisley, Lisa Grant, Lloyd Huie, Mary Margaret Girgenti, Meg Evans, Nicole Kodak, Cheryl Cook, Nkosi Lee, Sarah Batchelder, and Tenesha Grant

Absent were: Dana Albrycht, Gene Ott, and Rebekah Hatch

Staff Liaisons in attendance: Kristen Formanek, Rachael Loveland, Nicholas Boulter, Lyndsay Neffinger, and Sue Homrok-Lemke

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

CALL TO ORDER: 6:05

 

PUBLIC AUDIENCE/PUBLIC COMMENTS: None

 

UPDATE FROM THE CHAIRS: Budget requests should be submitted to Kristen Formanek by December 7, 2020.

 

ACTION ITEMS

  1. Review and approval of minutes from September24, 2020. Were adopted and approved. 
  2. Tenesha Grant will fill in temporarily as the Council clerk until someone volunteers.

 

SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS

  1. A meeting was held on 11/2/20.  The next “Let’s Talk” event will be about Indigenous People.  It will be hosted via Zoom with the Simsbury Public Library on 11/5/2020 at 6:30 pm. Carol Clark-Flanagan is the clerk for the Events subcommittee.
  2. The Data sub-committee is in the process of scheduling a meeting.
  3. The Outreach sub-committee will continue to provide outreach to local businesses.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Subcommittee assignments were reviewed. Annalise Febus-Barlow volunteered to be on the Events Subcommittee.
  2. Committee members volunteered to liaise on various commissions and boards.
  3.  A goal setting discussion was had by all members led by Chris Kelly.  He will take update the notes from the session and provide tasks for each of the subcommittees.
  4. A discussion was had regarding the protocol for appointing new members and volunteers.  There are two vacancies with one slot held for a student.  Three potential members have expressed interest and a meeting with each of them will be scheduled.
  5.  A discussion was had regarding the marketing of SPIRIT Council.
  6. The upcoming Unity Mile luminary event on December 6, 2020 was briefly discussed.

 

LIAISON REPORTS

  1. The Equity Council is looking to form two subcommittees; one for planning and one for communications
  2. The Library continues to host our “Let’s Talk” events.  Our next two events are scheduled for 11/5/2020 and 11/16/2020.  A resource list will be created and available for both events.

 

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEXT MEETING: Monday, December 7, 2020

 

Diana Yeisley made a motion to adjourn.  Motion was seconded by Sara Batchelder.  All present voted in favor and the vote was unanimous.  The motion passed.
