Firetown Road Sidewalk Project 2023

The proposed Firetown Road Sidewalk Project includes construction of an approximately 4,950-foot long, 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk with a minimum 3-foot wide snow shelf. This will provide a safe, comfortable, and accessible route for pedestrians on Firetown Road. The width of the walk is sufficient to allow two wheelchairs to pass, as well. Also included as part of the project are ADA accessible ramps at all intersections, as well as a mid-block crossing at the Belden Forest Court Retirement Community. The gap closure will connect over 500 parcels to a safe route to the town center, two multi-use path systems, and interconnect Henry James Memorial Middle School and Simsbury High School.

This project is currently under design by the Town of Simsbury Engineering Department, with construction anticipated to begin in the 2024 construction season. Any questions or comments related to this project shall be directed to Daniel Gannon at (860) 658-3260.
