Northern Hopmeadow Street 2023

The Department of Public Works has received State of Connecticut grant funding for a new sidewalk project in Town. The project includes a sidewalk corridor along the west side of Hopmeadow Street beginning at the southern end of Hoskins Road and continuing north to the CT DOT Storage Facility/Park n' Ride. The design will include a 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk along Hopmeadow Street that is approximately 4,400 linear feet, with a varying snow shelf for a majority of the project area. The proposed sidewalk will consist of three crosswalks and a proposed concrete retaining wall for approximately 100 feet at the Saxton Brook crossing in order to support the proposed sidewalk and minimize potential property and/or wetland impacts. One proposed sidewalk connection will be created to the existing concrete sidewalk along the eastern side of the Hopmeadow Street at Hoskins Road intersection. The project includes installation of decorative streetlights to illuminate the new sidewalk for pedestrians. Additionally, approximately 330 linear feet of new sidewalks will be constructed along Dorset Crossing Drive, which will connect to Hopmeadow Street.
